Plant Care

Watering:
Hedera helix 'Gold Child' (Ivy) prefers to be kept evenly moist, but not waterlogged. Water your Ivy once a week, making sure to allow excess water to drain from the pot. During the growing season (spring and summer), you may need to water your plant more frequently, especially if it's in a warm, dry environment. If the air in your home is particularly dry, consider misting your Ivy with water once or twice a week to help maintain its humidity. We recommend measuring the moisture of the soil with a moisture meter.

Light:
Hedera helix 'Gold Child' (Ivy) thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct sunlight, but too much can cause its leaves to burn or fade. Place your Ivy near a window with filtered light or in a well-lit room that doesn't receive direct sun. If you notice your plant's leaves becoming pale or yellow, it may be a sign that it's not getting enough light.

Fertilizing:
To help your Hedera helix 'Gold Child' (Ivy) maintain its golden glow, fertilize it every other month during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble or liquid fertilizer. Dilute the fertilizer according to the package instructions and apply it to the soil around the base of the plant. During the winter months, you can reduce fertilizing to once every three months or stop altogether.

Repotting:
Hedera helix 'Gold Child' (Ivy) is a fast-growing plant and may need to be repotted every one to two years. Choose a container that's slightly larger than the current one and fill it with a well-draining potting mix. Carefully remove the plant from its old container and gently loosen any tangled roots. Place the plant in the new container and fill in the gaps with additional potting mix. Water the plant thoroughly after repotting and avoid fertilizing for at least a month to allow the plant to adjust. To keep your Ivy looking lush and full, you can also trim back any overly long or straggly stems.
