Not only is it beautiful, but it also has air-purifying qualities, making it a functional addition to your space. Bring some exotic charm into your home with the Ficus elastica 'Burgundy'!

Plant Care

Watering:
Ficus elastica 'Burgundy' prefers to be kept evenly moist, but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. It's important to avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot. During the winter months, water sparingly as the plant goes into a dormant phase. We recommend measuring the moisture of the soil with a moisture meter.

Light:
Ficus elastica 'Burgundy' thrives in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. Place the plant near a north or east-facing window for optimal growth. If you notice the leaves losing their color, it may be an indication that the plant needs more light.

Fertilizing:
Ficus elastica 'Burgundy' benefits from regular fertilization during the growing season (spring and summer). Use a balanced, water-soluble or liquid fertilizer once a month to promote healthy growth. During the dormant winter months, reduce or stop fertilizing altogether.

Repotting:
Ficus elastica 'Burgundy' prefers to be slightly root-bound, so it's best to wait until the roots are visibly growing out of the bottom of the pot before repotting. This can take anywhere from 2-3 years. When repotting, use a well-draining potting mix, and choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one. Repotting in the spring will allow for optimal growth during the summer months.
