Plant Care

Watering:
Dieffenbachia 'Amy' prefers to be kept evenly moist, but not waterlogged. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch, and be sure to drain any excess water from the saucer to prevent root rot. In the winter months, reduce watering frequency to allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. We recommend measuring the moisture of the soil with a moisture meter.

Light:
This plant thrives in bright, indirect light, but can tolerate some shade. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, so be sure to keep it away from windows that receive direct sun. If your plant starts to become leggy or spindly, it may need more light.

Fertilizing:
To keep your Dieffenbachia 'Amy' looking its best, fertilize it monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble or liquid fertilizer. Be sure to follow the package instructions for dilution and frequency.

Repotting:
As your plant grows, it may outgrow its container and need to be repotted. This is best done in the spring, when the plant is actively growing. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one, and use a well-draining potting mix. Gently remove the plant from its current container, loosen any tightly bound roots, and place it in the new pot at the same soil level as before. Water thoroughly and allow the plant to adjust to its new home.
